WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

VISITING PARI

The Purdue Applied Research Institute is a secure facility, operating under federal regulations for restricted entry. All visits must be approved via by a responsible staff member. Staff members hosting visitors are responsible for ensuring that all security requirements are met.

Entry & ID Requirements
  • All visitors must present a government-issued photo ID upon arrival and receive a PARI visitor badge.
  • Visitors requiring access to classified information must arrange for an appropriate Visit Authorization Request (VAR) to be submitted to PARI before the visit. Visitors without an approved VAR may not access classified information.
  • Visitors who have not submitted a VAR and need to participate in discussions involving Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) must present one of the following documents to verify U.S.-person status:
    • Valid U.S. passport or U.S. passport card;
    • Government-issued photo ID and U.S. birth certificate, with matching names;
    • White Common Access Card (CAC);
    • CAC with a green band; or
    • Permanent Resident Card.
  • Visitors who have not submitted a VAR and do not provide one of the documents listed above may not participate in CUI discussions. Visitors should coordinate anticipated access requirements with their PARI point of contact before arriving.
  • All visitors are subject to search and monitoring and may be required to remain under escort throughout their visit. Purdue personnel are considered visitors when entering PARI-operated facilities.
Controlled Items
  • On-site use of the following privately owned items is subject to restrictions:
    • Recording equipment
    • Computers and associated media
    • Electronic equipment
    • Cellular telephones
    • Cameras
  • Taking photographs inside PARI-operated facilities is prohibited without written permission.
  • All computer equipment must be presented to a PARI staff member at the point of entry. Laptops and portable electronic devices are prohibited for entry into classified meetings without prior and proper approval.

PARI has a wireless network that is available for general use by visitors. Ask a PARI staff member for details.
